The graphic arts cabinet presents the first part of the 1921 cycle Per Aspera ad Astra (Through Hardship to the Stars) by the little-known German engraver Joseph Uhl (1877–1945). The series of nine engravings in Symbolist style deal with a young man’s journey through the pitfalls of life, which help him to overcome his ambitions.
